All Things Unity #15 {Scrap PINK}

Hello, friends!

Today starts another challenge over at All Things Unity! I love using my Unity and Ippity stamps--so this is a great challenge for me:}

This two week challenge is::: scrap PINK! Our friend and leader, Sara, will be teaching her first class at a crop named "Scrap Pink" in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness. October is National Breast Cancer Awareness month, and this year is the 25th anniversary of this event.

I have always supported cancer research, but this summer it hit a bit closer to home for me. I have a dear friend {only 25} who was diagnosed with breast cancer. She had a double mastectomy and is undergoing treatment. It tears me up inside--she is such a wonderful person and so strong. Good news is that she is doing great--she looks and feels great!! Praise God! I thank God that she found it early and that she is doing well. Because of her courage and strength....I'm dedicating this post to her! And she was my inspiration for these cards! So THANK YOU, J!!!

My first card was created using a soft pink, maroon, and brown palette. I love this paper--I've been wanting to use it for a couple of months! I created a tag and stamped a tag image [I think that is what this is called] from Unity's Garden Variety. I masked the sentiment inside the image so it was blank. The butterfly is from Unity's Life Becoming. I used metallic cream and pink for the body with silver gems. The sentiment is from Unity's April KOTM. I just love the way this card turned out (inspired by Kandis Smith). LOVE it!
My next card was created for a male--men can get breast cancer too! We used blue on our cards for men. I liked using blue....but I added in a hint of yellow/green and tan. I just thought this made the card pop more:) I love the way this card turned out--it came together fairly quickly (inspired by Melanie Douthit). I love that sentiment tag--one side with a lighter tan! So clever!! Wish I would have thought of that:) I used Ippity's Just Wanted To Say stamp set for the sentiment. And that string was cream before I tied it on the card! I used my dew drop chalk ink to dye it. I think it looks AWESOME:} I love this card! LOVE LOVE LOVE it! **NOTE:: I just remembered that Card of the Week has a "thinking of you" challenge--this is perfect!! And masculine:) LOVE IT!
I also wanted to share with you that I recently donated my hair to Locks of Love. I have been wanting to do this for awhile--and I'm so glad that I did! I encourage you to do it too! **NOTE::: I am still getting used to short hair--and I think I might need to visit the saloon every Friday for them to do my hair! I just don't know how to use a curling or flat iron!
Before and After--with hairdresser Debbie (isn't she fabulous!!}
I was trying to get a picture of my hair after Debbie did it--running out of daylight...taking a pic by myself...silly plants in the way! Oh well! Maybe I will visit her again soon and take a pic then:}

That's it for me today! Be sure to stop by all the other All Things Unity DT members' blogs! So creative and such wonderful cards to celebrate this wonderful event!

EIC #106 {Pegasus Maiden}

Hello, friends:}

I'm back with another EtsyInspired challenge! LOVE visiting these featured Etsy stores!! This week we are headed over to the FABULOUS (and I mean FABULOUS!!!!) Pegasus Maiden shop! Oh my--these head pieces are so beautiful! I was inspired to craft and get one! I want to wear one of these--and one of our winners this week will get this oh-so-beautiful head piece [LUCKY! I wish I could win--WISH WISH WISH!].
Our sponsor this week is Schlosser Designs! Another awesome shop--there are clear stamps and even sewing patterns! Everything you need for crafting. Another lucky winner will get to pick 2 stamps from Schlosser Designs {winner's choice}. LUCKY again!!!

I was really inspired by the peacock feathers. I wanted to make a card for my friend who's father-in-law just passed...and I thought this blue/green/tan color story would make a beautiful sympathy card. I just love these feathers--picked them up last night at JoAnn Fabrics {97 cents for three sets!!}. I love that the feathers are not peacock feathers--but different. I love that metal peacock too. The sentiment is from Ippity's Regal Greetings [great set for sentiments!]. I just love how this turned out--simple!

This next card was inspired by these lovely butterfly clips. I wanted to capture the colors of each butterfly and make a "friendship" card. I love this sentiment (Unity's August 09 KOTM)--it is simple and sweet. I also love these butterflies (Unity's Butterfly Garden). I don't know if you can tell, but the bodies have colored gems that match the bodies in this inspiration photo. I also love that thread that is tied around the sentiment--so fun! Another simple card!

That's it for me today--I really wanted to make another card....but time got away from me! But don't fret--the EtsyInspired DT members have created more eye candy for you to look at! Hop on over to their sites and leave them some love!!

FWF [Sept. 17]

Hello, my wonderful friends:}

I just love all of you! THANK YOU so much for stopping by! I also love Fridays--it's FWF over on the Unity blog!! **NOTE:: I am so sad that I have not had time to play along with their challenges...must find time this weekend!

Anyway--I've got a couple of cards to share with you today...I made this card ASAP after getting this new stamp set {Unity's Little Boy}. I just love this horse. I love how it's modern but looks old....or am I the only one who sees this? Eh. I also love these papers. They are from an old paper stash that I had for a pet themed scrapbook. I just LOVE the pop of red! SO cute!!!
This next card was created for a new little boy or possibly a younger boy's bday...I used my Cosmo Cricket Joy Ride papers with Unity's Joy Ride and Little Boy stamp sets. I love that little helicopter. So fun! I also love these colors for this boyish card--purple??? LOVE IT! And I have to share that I LOVE my burlap string that I got from Limelight! I use it on all my cards...well 80% of them:} LOVE it!
I just noticed that this pic is a bit drab--I will try and retake it so you can see it in natural lighting! It really is simple--but beautiful...KWIM? :)

My next card was created using a PC sketch. I love these Webster's Pages (also avilable at Limelight)!! I used the branch from Unity's What a Hoot! set, along with Unity's July KOTM for the sentiment. The nest and eggs are from Artisitc Outpost's Birds of a Feather stamp set. I just love this--I love how the leaves are stitched on! SO FUN!
And I have a sneak peak...if you haven't already been over to the All Things Unity blog...I posted a card over there as well! I'm everywhere--just kidding...I'm only on two blogs today:}
That's it for me today! But be sure to head on over to the Unity blog for more FWF creations! There is a BIG list of blogs for you to hop! Lots of crafty goodness shared today:) And be sure to leave some love on all the blogs!!

PDCC #47

Hello, friends:}

I am so excited to share another color story for The Play Date Cafe! Just love love love this challenge! So fun to see what colors Sarah and Julie put together. This week Sarah put together red, teal, leaf green, and black/white. OHHHH! Such fun colors!

And this week our sponsor is Paperbag Studios. The owner, Roben-Marie, is our fabulous fabulous Guest Designer this week! Paperbag Studios features a collection of rubber stamps ranging from children to doodles and houses to shoes and offers a unique mix that appeals to not only the rubber stamper but visual and altered artists alike! The prize this week::: $25 gift certificate to the online store! Let me tell you---these stamps are AMAZING! The PDCC DT were sent a set of stamps to play with--so fun! ThanksRoben-Marie

This week I decided to make a card for a neighbor. I made them a card about four months ago--inviting them to dinner. I made them another card about two months ago wishing them "happy anniversary" for owning their house for a year (also inviting them to dinner).....we have yet to get together! It just happens that our schedules have not matched--but hopefully, after sending them this card we will get together! I used Paperbag Studios stamps--Doodles & Daters [the houses are my favorites]! I just love how beautiful they look! I stamped everything on text paper. After cutting out each piece, I distressed them with inks and then popped them with foam dots. I tied embroidery thread around the heart--and I thought about stitching on the sentiment tag but I couldn't figure out which thread color to use. I love love love how this card turned out:} This is also a great entry for the Paper Crafts Magazine challenge--use text in a different way.
That's all for me today--but don't worry! The PDCC DT members have created some beautiful (BEAUTIFUL) cards and creations with their Paperbag Studios stamps! Be sure to stop by all their blogs and leave them some love!
