4th grade teacher, Neil Armstrong/Deep Creek Elementary: 2004- 2009 I believed in teaching more than the regular subjects, and would allow my students to stay afterschool for approxmately 9 hours each week to work on sewing projects, teamwork, and educational skills. We visited nursing homes, created quilts each year (which were donated to other schools or companies), and worked on plays/dramas. My classroom and afterschool program was called “Camp O’Gwynn”. Camp O’Gwynn was featured in several newspaper articles and received many grants to fund these special projects.
