World Card Making Day HOP- 2 giveaways!!!!

Hello, friends:}

If you came from Patricia Folchert's blog, you are in the right place-- if you would like to start from the beginning of the hop, please click HERE or go to the Paper Crafts blog.
Well....I can finally shout it from the ROOF TOPS! I was a WINNER!!! My card was one of the winners picked for the Love category for the World Card Making Day challenge with Paper Crafts! I'm so excited. This was a complete surprise, and I still can't believe it's true!! I pinch myself all the time! You can read more about this win on pages 11-12 in the PC magazine, and my card is on page 80.
And today the WCMD winners are having a hop! We wanted to share some of our goodies with you! And the good news is that I'm sharing TWO projects and TWO giveaways!

My friend, Linda Dreiling, is sharing my blog today. She was a winner in the Birthday category!! You can see her project on page ##. She has created another birthday card to share today. Here is what she had to say about the special techniques she used on this card: Cut flower; leaves and small butterflies  from Graphic 45 Botanical paper and glue down with Studio multi medium to the Clearly for Art Blackout.  When dry, once again cut out.  Holding with tweezers one item at a time hit the back with heat from a heat gun, you just have to heat a little and then form your butterflies wings upwards and set a side to cool. Heat the flower and form the petals as you desire and then set aside to cool. I love using this medium as it holds its shape and I love 3d on cards.  Emboss Happy Birthday on Gold punch out from Botanical paper;I put the foam tape behind the Happy Birthday insert and again on the bottom leaves of the flower. After the paper is on the Gift Card tin cutout and form more small butterflies then I tied various ribbons to the handle to make it stand up.

Supplies: Patterned paper from Graphic 45, Botanical and Domestic Goddess papers; Clearly for Art Blackout modeling film by Studio 490; Stamps: Happy Birthday from Stampin UP and swirl Misc brand from Michaels; Embossing Powder: Stampin Up; Ink by Tim Holtz Distress Black and Dye Black by Making Memories; Pearls from Bo Bunny; Scotch Foam tape; Adhesive by Studio multi medium matte; Scotch glue and Extreme Tac by Glue Glider; Small Tin with handle from Oriental Trading; Ribbon; May arts.

And for my creation....I wanted to create another card for the category that I won {original card to the left}. I also wanted to use a similar image. So I made a love card using the camera image from the Paper Smooches Perpetual Bliss stamp set. I also used some hearts from the Smoocheroos set. The papers are from the Paper Issues store. I used some film strip ribbon and made it look like it was rolling out of the camera. My friend, Ashley, helped me with this sentiment--SOOOOOOOO perfect! LOVE LOVE LOVE this card!
I tried to get a good pic of the film strip ribbon--sorry this pic is dark.

Now for the GIVEAWAYS!!!! Linda and I are both giving away some prizes. We are each giving away a package of goodies....and we just found out from Holly over at Paper Crafts that we can giveaway a magazine too!!! HOOOOORAY!

So we will have 4 winners! One winner will get this prize package from Linda
Another winner will receive this prize package from me.
And two winners will get a copy of the March/April edition of the Paper Crafts magazine!!!
How do you win??? Just leave a comment below! Please ONE comment per person! Please leave some love for both Linda and myself:) We would really appreciate it! :)

New Year's special using a Sweet Stamp Shop set

Hello, friends:}

I'm back with another Sweet Stamp Shop creation. It's my day over on the SSS blog--so be sure to stop by there and leave some love!

In honor of the new year...I have created a monthly journal for 2012. I know I've talked about monthly journals before--but just in case you've forgotten: monthly journals are just three sheets of paper with each date/month stitched into a journal. I use these journals for keeping track of important events and happenings throughout the year. For example- births, deaths, concerts, moves, job promotions, etc. I used to want to read these each Christmas when we decorated our Christmas tree (since we were going to buy a yearly ornament and read a yearly journal when we place that year's ornament on the tree)...but I've figured out that the perfect time to read through these journals is New Year's Eve!!! It's great to read through each year's happenings--I can see how far we've come or where we struggled or when we were blessed. It's so much fun!

Now on to my project....I used some Echo Park Style Essentials Upscale paper for the journal cover. I made ANOTHER SVG file that cut out the year. Then I got tricky and stamped the largest glasses image from my Sweet Stamp Shop Spectacle stamp set. Then I cut these images out and added black glitter. I LOOOOOOOOOOOOVE how this turned out! **I usually make the front cover symbolic of what is going on in our life at the moment--so for 2012 I used the spectacle because Trav and I are FOCUSING on each other and sharing Jesus' love!!! The SSS stamp set was PERFECT for this front cover! And this 2012 monthly journal is perfect for the Paper Issues {numbers} and Simon Says Stamp {anything goes} challenges!!!

Inside--these pages are just stitched together.
**There is an envelope in the back (stitched in with the papers) for memorabilia and pictures.

That's it for me today--I just love love love using my SSS images--they are so versatile:)

Be sure to stop by the Sweet Stamp Shop blog for more info on this card and to see what the owner of SSSNicole, has been up to! Santa Melvin....Sweet Stamp Shop Christmas:}

Hello, friends:}

I'm back with another Sweet Stamp Shop creation. It's my day over on the SSS blog--so be sure to stop by there and leave some love! Today we are making an owl into Santa;)

I've used one of my very first SSS sets {Melvin & Vernie} for my card. I LOVE that owl! He is perfect for paper piecing...and for dressing up! When I saw THIS set {Thanksgiving Owl-fits}, I knew I wanted to make Melvin into Santa Owl. I love his little hat and that beard cracks me up! LOVE LOVE LOVE!! **I do wish that you could see his mustache better. I thought about adding liquid applique to his hat/beard....maybe next time! I also used my SSS Sweet Alpha Doodle stamp set for the sentiment. I'm a BIG believer in saying "MERRY CHRISTMAS"--and I wanted CHRIST to stand out (since Jesus is the reason for the season!). So I broke up the sentiment and used two inks. The ribbon {which is available HERE at The Ribbon Carousel} adds just the right amount of pop! My design is pretty CAS--LOVE it! I'm also entering this in the Paper Issues Holiday Madness challenge:)
If you look really close--you can see that I used my Copic YG91 Putty and E55 Light Carmel on Melvin's body--it was my first time using them! I think I did pretty good:)

That's it for me today--Be sure to stop by the Sweet Stamp Shop blog for more info on this project and to see what the owner of SSSNicole, has been up to!

And if you have some extra time, please stop by our YouTube channel (I am hoping to upload a NEW video this week!!!!), our FB page, follow us on Twitter  and link up any creations you have made using SSS images on Flickr

I've got a special card to share today! I made this for my friend, Daria! She moved to NY to finish her schooling, and her first day back was last Wednesday! This card is perfect for the Unity monthly challenge and Paper Issues challenge {both are school themed}. I used some K&Co. papers (loooooove those light teal apples--perfect for a school theme!) with Unity stamps {Learning [year by year], Smarty Pants, What a Hoot!, ledger background, and Sweet & Sour Soup}. LOVE how this turned out--It's actually a pocket card--the notebook paper inside is slipped into the pocket folder. LOVE LOVE LOVE
That's it for me! I'll be back with more soon:) THANKS so much for stopping by! Be blessed!

Nyack and the winter....

**POST 1 for Friday, July 16

Hello, friends:)

I've got a quick post for you today--I'm linking this creation up to the Paper Smooches GDT challenge. I just love these Paper Smooches images--and I love love love paper piecing them! I think PS stamps and I are a match made in HEAVEN:}

I wanted to make a winter scene on top of cupcakes (chocolate chip cookie dough cupcakes with cookie dough buttercream frosting--made from scratch)....but I forgot that the buttercream is more CREAM!! There is no such thing as cream snow! LOL! Either way--I love how these guys turned out. I used my Swanky Snowdudes and Santa Paws stamp sets. LOVE that sign--I used the pole and stamped it twice to make an extra long city sign. I am entering these SWEET cupcakes into the Paper Issues Life is Sweet challenge! I am also entering these creations into the Simon Says Stamp Anything Goes Challenge! LOVE it!
**The reason behind Nyack and these cupcakes in the middle of summer is that my friend, Daria, is moving to Nyack in a week or so. We are throwing her a party tonight to help her get ready for the cold. These stamps made it perfect for this theme!

That's it for me! I hope you are doing well! THANKS so much for stopping by! I'll be back soon with more to share:} Be blessed!

What's Growing On...Dad?

Hello, friends:}

I've got a quick card to share with you today. I've been wanting to play along with the Chevron Chic Challenge in the Moxie Fab World. Chevron....that's a hard design for me to work with. Then I found this super cute masculine colored chevron paper (I think it's chevron???). I love this little mustache image and the sentiment--it's perfect for Trav's dad for Father's Day! Which makes this card perfect for the Paper Issues challenge {Time for the Guys}. Pretty simple and masculine. LOVE that!!!
I'm trying photos without the flower frog...thoughts?

That's it for now--I'm hoping to get something else done and share it later today! Thanks so much for stopping by!! Happy Memorial Day!
