2025: Savannahland2- the craft studio through the years

Hello again, sweet friends!

If you've followed me from the beginning, waaaaaay back in 2009, then you know that I've had quite a few craft studios. Let's take a walk down memory lane of my previous studios... and how I got to where I am today:)
  • I started in my classroom- I was a teacher and would make fun designs and different things with my students. I wasn't making "cards" but it was the start of my crafting passion. **Technically I started making cards in high school- I would send notes to my friends in class on colored paper with colored ink. I would fold the note up to look like an envelop and then write on the outside: Deliver to Emily, seat 3 row 1 (kind of like an address🙃).
  • Then I married Trav and moved my craft supplies into the garage and used the kitchen table as my workspace. This was in our first home together.
  • After a few years, Trav converted one of the back bedrooms into a studio- it was beautiful! We bought a huge office desk (I still have this in my sewing studio!) and I had my sewing cabinet coming out of the closet like an island so I could cut fabric there. I also used my desk to write blog posts and create cards. It was on this desk that I started the 1st Savannahland blog on my MAC computer. **Side note: My first blog was through MAC/Apple... it was too hard to be involved with blog hops with this blog since I had to wait to post for the permalink. So I moved to Blogger at the end of 2009 and started Savannahland2 (that's where the 2 comes in! LOL!).
  • We bought a new home and I was instantly given a front bedroom for my studio. It was awesome but cramped. I created a video tour of this room HERE. It was in this second studio that I created ALL of my videos for Paper Smooches, Imagine Crafts, Reverse Confetti, Sweet Stamp Shop, etc. I made a lot of videos in this room!
  • Then we moved to Tampa in 2017- this studio was a bit bigger but became cramped as soon as I moved in! LOL! We had custom cabinets installed and painted the room a baby Robbin egg blue- all my other rooms were yellowish. I was working for the magazine Cardmaker at the time as a DT member, and they featured my studio on their blog (it's since been deleted... but I have the original photos). You can't see the sewing desk or how stuffed the closet is... but trust me, I was bursting at the seams! LOL!
I stopped making videos and started working for our church, but then COVID hit and all things changed. Craft companies started closing down and there were a few personal situations that took me down a deep, dark path of depression. I took a small break but came back and enjoyed crafting MUCH MUCH MORE! I started working for Spellbinders, Pink & Main, and YourPaperInsiders in this studio.
  • THEN..... we decided to move to SC and I was promoted to TWO craft studios! They are joined by a Jack and Jill bathroom so I can easily go from one room to the next. Both have walk-in closets and are HUGE! I would say I'm still bursting at the seams with stuff... I need to destash! LOL! Here's a photo of when we moved in after some boxes were dropped off--- not the greatest photo but imagine NO room to walk around! That's what it was like after 12 hours of moving boxes from the two moving trucks!
Here's a photo of my closet in SC--- it's wonderfully HUGE and yet STILL bursting at the seams! LOL!
After 17 months of waiting to sell our FL home (bad market and a VERY long story)... we are finally able to remodel this studio. I've been on a makeshift workspace and in boxes since May 2024.
It's so nice to have my custom cabinets back and a new quartz countertop (which was installed yesterday!). I am getting things settled and put into place. I can't wait to get this room done because then I can move on to my sewing studio!!!! Here's a photo of what I have in my sewing room now... but be aware--- I'm going to change MOST of it! LOL!
And just because... here's a photo of Finn in my studio while doing the remodel. He doesn't care if the carpet is ripped out! He just loves being near me:)

That's it for me today. I hope you've enjoyed reading about my studio journey. I'm very excited for these NEW studios, and I cannnnnnnnnnot wait to get crafty again!

THANKS so much for stopping by! MORE to come 💌

Be blessed ❤️
